Having been in the planning
stages for the past couple of years, the LHR is now beginning the
implementation of those plans and has the following completed projects
in the Region:
Co-funded and participated in the Elk and Nature Tourism study that
lead to the creation of the Elk Scenic Drive and the advent of the
Pennsylvania Wilds branding initiative.
Co-funded a series of interpretive sign kiosks located at the PA
Lumber Museum, Cameron County Courthouse, Rt 15 Visitor’s Center, the
Ebensburg Historical Society and Brookville Visitor’s Center.
Co-funded and participated in the creation of
The West Branch Water
Trail and the Paddler’s Map & Guide Book - a series of
twenty-eight interpretive signs were placed along the length of the
West Branch of the Susquehanna River and a high quality Paddler’s Map
and Guide book was created and published. The LHR was declared a
Champion of Water Trails by the American Canoe Association for the
work on the West Branch the Water Trail has been recognized as an ACA-Recommended
Water Trail.
Co-funded the Mount Jewett cultural mural.
Co-funded the restoration of the N. G. Edelblute Building in
Brookville, PA
Co-funded the restoration of a switch engine at the PA Lumber
Museum and provided funds for their Bark Peeler’s Convention.
Co-funded the installation of a series of interpretive signs in
Ridgway, PA
Co-funded the installation of an Elk Interpretive Kiosk at
Sinnamahoning State Park |
